How to do it
Swim controlled butterfly while mentally counting two kicks per cycle. The first accompanies hand entry and extension; the second accompanies the end of the pull and helps the arms recover. Slow down instead of adding extra kicks when timing breaks down.
Key cues
- Place the first kick around hand entry.
- Place the second kick around the end of the pull.
- Keep the kicks compact and continuous.
- Let body rhythm connect the two actions.
Common mistakes
- Putting both kicks almost at the same moment.
- Missing the second kick as the hands finish the pull.
- Using large knee-driven kicks.
- Chasing speed before the rhythm is stable.
Practice format
6 × 25 m easy butterfly with 25 to 30 s rest, counting “one-two” on each cycle.
