How to do it
Complete one full breaststroke cycle. Once the arms are back in front and the first kick is finished, keep the arms extended and add a second kick. Then begin the next full cycle without exaggerating the glide.
Key cues
- Finish both kicks in a long body position.
- Keep the arms still in front during the second kick.
- Bring the heels in without opening the knees excessively.
- Return to a normal, flowing breaststroke afterward.
Common mistakes
- Starting the next pull during the second kick.
- Opening the knees very wide.
- Turning the drill into a long breath hold between cycles.
- Chasing speed instead of timing.
Practice format
4 × 25 m drill with 20 s rest, then 4 × 25 m full breaststroke while keeping the same finish to the kick.
